Broadlands Park Residents Thrive in Falls Prevention Exercise Class

Recently, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Your Health Norfolk, a dedicated team of professionals passionate about promoting healthy living and preventing falls.

Your Health Norfolk offers specialized exercise classes designed to reduce the risk of falls and boost physical activity levels. With a comprehensive program that focuses on different aspects of the body, such as warm-up and mobility, strength, balance, and cool-down, our residents were able to engage in a diverse range of exercises tailored to their unique needs.

The FaME (Falls Management Exercise) component of the program included dynamic endurance exercises, strength training, and balance exercises. Residents were guided through a series of movements and activities that aimed to improve their overall fitness, stability, and flexibility. The Backwards Chaining technique employed in the class allowed individuals to gradually progress in their exercises, ensuring they felt confident and capable at each stage.

To further enhance their well-being, participants were introduced to Adapted Tai-Chi, a gentle and flowing exercise that promotes relaxation, balance, and coordination. The Otago component of the program emphasised warm-up and mobility exercises, strength training, balance exercises, and stretching to improve flexibility.
